Lung function: Spirometry Service for ADULTS

Spirometry is a lung function test. In a spirometry test, you breathe into a mouthpiece connected to an instrument called a spirometer, which records the amount and frequency of air breathed in and out over a period of time.

Spirometry measures airflow. By measuring how much air you exhale, and how quickly it does, spirometry can evaluate a broad range of lung diseases.

Lung volume measures the amount of air in the lungs without forcibly blowing. Some lung diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis, may make the lungs contain too much air. Other lung diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis and asbestosis) make the lungs scarred and become smaller, so that they contain very little air. For some of the test measurements, you can breathe normally and quietly. Other tests require forced inhalation or exhalation after a deep breath.

The exam includes:

• Determination of the parameters of lung function: FVC, FEV1 and FEV1/FVC
• Interpretation of results with recommendations and suggestions for the applicant therapeutic study doctor.
• Postbronchodilator evaluation in patients with obstructive pathology (You must wait additional 1/2 hour postbronchodilator).
• Payment is accepted by credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard and Maestro)

NOTE: Spirometry is a technical test; the interpretation of it will be made by your treating doctor in the office.
